The County Administration would have you believe that Oakland's job numbers have improved. But the numbers from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics tell a different story. The fact is the numbers are flat. And this is despite the bump from the one-time Covid Relief fund, which have nearly run out. We need to see small and medium businesses flourish again--the ones who have consistently powered economic recovery. But the county government is taking more of your tax dollars, hurting job growth. Returning hundreds of millions of dollars to the pockets of county citizens every year would transform the business environment of this county with long-lasting effect, because more would be spent here.
